There are many bedding materials out there that you can buy I.e. cotton wool, J-cloth, paper, wood chipping and sawdust! I personally think "home made" ones are the cheapest and safest type.
J-cloth: Just cut it up into short strips and place it in their home, very absorbent too.
Tissue: (My option) Tare it up. Like the J-cloth it’s very absorbent. Also I've noticed my Roborovski's like to tare it up themselves too. You could make a blanket on the base of the house with a few sheets, then place some torn up strips on top for extra warmth.
Cotton wool: It’s good for insulation, but not so good at absorbing urine. Also I find it unsafe, due to the fact limbs can easily be caught up in such material.
Paper: I really don't like this choice! I hear a lot of people saying its great when used as bedding, but I see it as potentially lethal and dangerous material. Each shred of paper is sharp and can cut their delicate skin so easily! I'd strongly advise you stay away from this type of bedding.
The other types of bedding you find are more or less the same as J-cloth. Just with a bigger price sticker on it! The choice would be to buy the cheap version and spend a minute to cut it up, or spend more money and save the hassle!
