Taming your Robo isn't easy, especially if you have more than one living together! It takes a bit of time and patience, but, you will eventually tame them all. If you know the basic info about Roborovski's, you'll know they won’t ever be tame enough to "cuddle". Standing still isn't an option for them. You'll need quick hands and good reactions to be able to handle them, tamed or untamed!
Expecting that the Scared Robo is going to run straight off of your hands once you've caught it; put a box full of hay/sawdust underneath your hands, whilst keeping them low to the ground. This way if and when they jump, he won’t be injured. You have to take into account that they have no recollection of height and will jump, despite a long fall!
Because they are startled easily, try to find some where quiet to tame them. When you have him in your hands, stay calm, but alert, making slow hand movements. Curl your hands a little, placing your thumb on the tip of your index finger to keep control of how fast your Roborovski is moving. Though be careful not to put too much pressure against him. At the same time be moving you hands in front of one another, like you would with any other hamster. Do this for 10 minutes a day. To gain better trust, you could place your hand in their cage, next to them for 5 minutes before and/or after each handling session. Do this to each hamster each day for two weeks to gain good progress.
After that your hammy should let you stroke them in their cage and hop on your hand willingly. To help along with these techniques, you can also start to offer treats. But don't shove the treat in their face, you may drop his confidence by doing this and have to start all over again!
From then onwards it should be pretty straight forward. The only time their confidence may suddenly vanish is if you have two mating, pregnant or nursing, male and/or female. During and after this, they will turn "wild" again, due to parenting instincts to protect their young. Therefore making you have to tame him again, along with the babies too!
